Born in Batyam, Israel, Ricky emigrated to the United States in 1964, where she pursued her education at Hunter College in New York. With fluency in 4 languages, after graduating she followed her passion of teaching High School English. Her first introduction to the retail sector came when she accepted a position as lead buyer for Montgomery Ward, learning the ins and outs of the commercial retail industry. A few years later, after meeting her husband Leonard, she decided to leave the corporate world to pursue her true passion of food.
Ricky founded Between The Bread in 1979. Initially it was just a fast casual fresh-food cafe located on 56th street and Lex, but she quickly perceived a gap in the market when she noticed that local corporations did not have access to high quality food in their offices. By 1985 she had already grown her company into one of New York's most venerable catering institutions, providing food to nearly 1/5th of Manhattan's Fortune 500. Today, just as 40 years ago, Ricky serves as BTB's CEO, and functions as the creative figurehead for Events and Catering.
